Paying does not unlock exclusive power that free players can never reach, but it buys more summoning attempts and more energy, which compresses months of progress into weeks. TheGamer has called the game “the epitome of pay to win”; our own view is that a patient free player can clear most content, because well-chosen gear matters more than rarity — but anyone claiming spending confers no advantage is not being straight with you.

In substance, yes. Champions come from randomised Shard summons, and Shards are sold. Steam labels the game as containing chance-based in-game purchases, which is the platform’s own term for this. They are published on the summoning screen in the game, they differ per Shard type, and they are temporarily improved during summoning events. That is why we do not reprint percentages here: a number on a fan page can be silently out of date, while the figure in front of you in game is current.
